It is common nowadays for energy storage to be connected to the grid as a “hybrid project” – or alongside of another renewable generation project. However, standalone energy storage systems that are independent from renewable generation can be valuable resources in their own right. This session will highlight some of the trends, challenges and opportunities in standalone energy storage project development, addressing considerations related to financing, construction, interconnection, and deployment. The session will emphasize the value opportunity of standalone storage projects, highlighting resource value opportunities as a non-wire solution and grid reliability resource.
