As the largest lithium-ion energy storage system in the world (by energy capacity), Tehachapi BESS will demonstrate the effectiveness of lithium-ion battery and smart inverter technologies to improve grid performance and integration of large-scale variable energy resources.  Crucial to the project’s success is the use of a mini-system (30kW/116kWh) that allowed lab testing of components and control features, and verification of operations prior to energizing the full system.
