Matt Brown, Vice President of Engineering Matt Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from San Diego State University and attended extended studies at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He has designed Drone aircraft for the US Navy and appendages in four America’s Cup sailboat racing campaigns. Sailing World magazine awarded him Boat of the Year for the Schock 40 Canting Keel sailboat and he is still a competitive sailor recently completing his second Transpacific yacht race. In early 2003, Matt brought his expertise to the Renewable Energy industry designing ocean current and wave energy generators as well as some of the largest wind turbines in the world. As co-founder of ARES, Matt currently leads a diverse team of design consultants specializing in rail technology, automation, power conversion and others. ARES’ energy storage systems integrate a diverse range existing technologies and Matts’ broad range of experience is key to his engineering leadership.
