1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Site Tours

Site Tours

Tour #1 - Half Day
- The BMW Technology Office in Mountain View uses a 100kW/225kWh second-life lithium-ion battery system for peak shaving, demand response market participation, renewables capacity firming, and time shifting.
- The PG&E Yerba Buena Battery Energy Storage Pilot Project in San Jose, CA uses a 4MW/7-hour sodium-sulfur (NaS) battery system to acquire real-world data on the technical and financial performance of energy storage. The system is testing how storage can provide electric reliability, intermittent resource integration, and multiple services to the CAISO markets.

Tour #2 - Half Day
- The Tesla Factory in Fremont is using a 1MW/2MWh energy storage system for demand charge reduction and time-of-use (TOU) energy management.
- At the 49ers Levi’s® Stadium, Green Charge Networks worked with the Santa Clara Stadium Authority to design and install a 30 kW/30 kWh GreenStationTM system. Located indoors in the facility’s parking garage, the customized energy storage solution is designed to mitigate spikes in demand when fans are charging their electric vehicles at one of the many on-site EV chargers while cheering their team to victory. This site tour showcases a complete sustainability solution consisting of solar carports, level 2, DC fast charging and intelligent energy storage.

Tour #3 - Half Day
- STEM (more details coming soon)
- Stanford University - Central Energy Facility (CEF) Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system which is part of the larger Stanford Energy System Innovations (SESI) project

Tour #4 - All Day (more details coming soon)
- NextEra Vasco Wind Energy Center in Livermore, CA
- EnerVault Turlock is the world's largest, Fe-Cr redox flow battery co-located with a dual axis PV tracking system, located in Turlock, CA.
- Terrajoule demonstration of prototype solar dispatchable generation + storage system, 100 kW with 1 MWh storage, located in Waterford, CA. Storage at less than $100/kWh of storage capacity, non-degrading over 25-year lifetime, no cycle limitations. Energy storage medium: Pressurized water. Energy conversion: Reciprocating steam engines.
- Primus Power EnergyPod - The EnergyPod is a 280 kW/1,000 kWh containerized, utility grade energy storage system, located in Hayward, CA. In late 2014/early 2015 EnergyPods will ship to investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities and a microgrid.
